Melissa O’Neill, LCSW, CEDS-S

Melissa O’Neill, LCSW, CEDS-S

Program Director

Melissa O’Neill is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over a decade of experience with Eating Disorders in higher levels of care. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and her Master’s degree from University of Illinois.

Ms. O’Neill has specialized in working with adults and adolescents struggling with Eating Disorders, co-occurring disorders, and those who have experienced trauma. She has supervised programs for the treatment of Eating Disorders at IOP, PHP, and residential levels of care and holds her Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor designation. Ms. O’Neill approaches therapy from the lens that relationships are vital to the healing process and a key component of recovery. She is also an EMDR trained clinician and is adjunct faculty and DePaul University.

Madison Hosier, MS, LPC

Madison Hosier, MS, LPC

Primary Therapist

A Licensed Professional Counselor, Madison Sarvis graduated from The Family Institute at Northwestern with a Master’s degree in Counseling. She has worked within the community of eating disorders in a variety of roles including residential and partial hospitalization. As a Primary Therapist, Madison works with individual clients, families and running groups. Madison is passionate about her work with eating disorders and aiding clients in their journey to recovery to reconnect with their values and goals. Madison’s approach to treatment encompasses the use of DBT and mindfulness, while understanding the importance of family involvement in recovery and providing emotion coaching to help families best support their loved ones.

Magdalena Zelazko, BS

Magdalena Zelazko, BS

Facility Coordinator

Magdalena Zelazko graduated from Loyola University of Chicago in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Psychology of Crime & Justice. During her undergrad, she began volunteering and working in communal and hospital settings with children, adolescents, and adults who struggled with behavioral and developmental delays. She also worked as an assistant designer/manager for an interior design firm specializing in rehabilitative settings by overseeing both project progress and team efficacy. In 2018, Magdalena began her work at Center for Discovery in the Residential Treatment Center in Glenview, IL as a milieu counselor. In this role, she honed in on her leadership and interpersonal skills by leading counseling groups such as DBT, providing one-on-one support to clients, managing crisis situations, and providing meal support. In the summer of 2019, Magdalena began her role as Facility Coordinator of the new Chicago Eating Disorder Outpatient Facility to better serve the clients and their families.

Counselor III

Melissa Koontz graduated from DePaul University with a Masters in Counseling, concentration in Clinical Mental Health. Melissa has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including residential, partial hospitalization, and out-patient programs. She has significant clinical experience treating eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, as well as adolescent and adult age groups. Melissa uses a strengths based approach to explore the client’s true self, while empowering them towards change. Also a registered yoga teacher, RYT, Melissa uses yogic principles to connect the mind-body and promote mindfulness in and out of therapy sessions. At Center for Discovery, Melissa offers gentle yoga to help clients connect with their physical bodies and practice self-acceptance. Her focus on the whole-person gives clients a chance to make long-lasting holistic changes in their lives. Melissa truly believes in the power of therapy and is passionate about the well being and success of her clients

Stephanie Allison, MS, RD, LDN, CHES

Stephanie Allison, MS, RD, LDN, CHES

REGISTERED DIETITIAN

Stephanie Allison graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Health Promotion and a
minor in psychology. Shortly after, she obtained her Certified Health Education Specialist credential. In
2017, Stephanie completed her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Indiana State University,
where she also completed her dietetic internship with an emphasis on behavioral health nutrition at
several locations throughout Indiana. Stephanie has a passion for working with clients struggling with
eating disorders and has worked as a Registered Dietitian in the mental health and eating disorder
treatment community at the residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels
of care.

As a Registered Dietitian, Stephanie works with clients to incorporate nutritional balance, variety, and
moderation into their everyday lives and supports clients on their journey toward intuitive eating. She
approaches nutrition therapy and counseling with passion and enthusiasm, and enjoys empowering her
clients throughout their recovery. Stephanie values empathy and supportiveness, and utilizes these
aspects of her personality to build a therapeutic relationship with clients that is built on trust, connection,
and collaboration.

Stephanie believes that the food philosophy taught at Center for Discovery is essential in creating positive
relationships with food. She lives and models this philosophy daily, not just at work, but also in her
personal life, with the hope of inspiring others to develop their own healthy relationships with food and
body.

Reanna Peterman, MS, RDN, LDN

Reanna Peterman, MS, RDN, LDN

REGISTERED DIETITIAN

Reanna received a master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition with an emphasis on Public Health from
Saint Louis University. During her graduate studies Reanna conducted research on the
Assessment of Prevention and Management of Eating Disorders in Adolescents. Prior to joining
the team at Center For Discovery, Reanna worked as a Clinical Dietitian at an eating disorders
treatment center. She treated clients at the residential, PHP, and IOP level of care.
Reanna is experienced in providing nutrition education and support to individuals with
disordered eating behaviors. She is a leader at facilitating behavior change so individuals can
make educated decisions to obtain a healthy life. Reanna’s personal philosophy is a non-diet
approach to nutrition. She believes in health at every size and is passionate about promoting
mind and body balance. Reanna utilizes intuitive eating, motivational interviewing, and
mindfulness techniques to support behavior change. Reanna’s philosophy is founded on the
principles of all foods fit, health and wellness at every size, body positivity/inclusivity, and self
care. Reanna is passionate about helping people learn to nourish their bodies in a therapeutic
way. When Reanna is not at Center For Discovery, you may find her playing with her dogs or
enjoying time with family in the beautiful city of Chicago.

  • I was sent to [Center for Discovery], an all women's eating disorder treatment facility, and I was terrified to go. I was told I would be there for a month and would return home after that. I ended staying there for almost 3 months, and I can honestly say I am beyond thankful for my time there. I learned so much and they helped me find myself and get over my traumas and learn to cope with issues that I was having. All the staff was super helpful and had my best interest at heart. I may have not liked all of them, but I knew they wanted what was best for me. Even after my insurance run out, the therapist I was working with arranged for me to go to another center to continue my treatment because I was not ready to come home. I highly recommend getting help with Center for Discovery. They truly care!

  • I was at [Center for Discovery] for 6 weeks. I'm from Ohio and being so far away from home was hard. The staff made me feel super comfortable and cared for, making my stay much more manageable. The program was very individualized. They worked hard to make sure my specific needs were met and that my specific behaviors were addressed. This is a top notch facility with incredibly caring staff. Not only were the house staff wonderful, but everyone from admissions to the medical director worked hard to make sure I knew what was going on. This is a wonderful company who are true to what they say. They gave me my life back. I'm someone who has been in and out of treatment for my eating disorder and this program was by far the best. I feel so optimistic about my future. The progress I made there was life changing and I will be forever grateful. I recommend this program to anyone who is serious, willing, and ready to get better.

  • I was surprised by my parents with the option of going to get help for my eating disorder and overall unhealthy lifestyle. I so badly wanted to get help, but was too ashamed. After talking to my mom I agreed to at least talk to someone from Center for Discoveryabout what program I would be in and what it would be like. The gal was super helpful, kind, and did not make me feel like I was the only person who suffered from what I did. She was very patient with me and overall helped out our family with the process of insurance and costs and what not. As for the actual facility I stayed at, it was a great experience.

  • We had our son in an acute care hospital and the social worker recommended the Center for Discovery. Before our son was discharged, my wife and I met with the staff and toured the facility. We were impressed by the staff and how the program was structured. Our son was there 6 weeks. It was a game changer and now we feel our son left with a good base of skills that he has continued to use. We now feel our son can leave a normal type life and not have to worry that he may need to live in a group home setting as an adult. We can't say enough for the help and support we received from the entire staff at the Center for Discovery. When we were considering the facility we did some reviews on line. Some weren't overly positive, but most were and we feel that it was a very positive experience for our son and our family. Even our son now admits that he learned some great skills and that his time at Center for Discovery turned his life around.

  • I completely recommend this outpatient program for the treatment of eating disorders.  The program is tailored to each individual and my daughter was able to attend school while attending. The staff is caring, knowledgeable and fully committed to the treatment process for the patient and family.  My family now better understands eating disorders and we are able to support our daughter through her recovery.  5 stars all the way!!
