Center for Discovery Temecula is an outpatient eating disorder treatment center for patients of all genders and all ages. The Temecula IOP/PHP treatment facility serves all of Southern California. It opened in November 2019 and is  located near the 15 Freeway and the 79 Freeway. Treatment modalities we offer include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure & response prevention (ERP) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

In addition to receiving evidence-based therapies, patients all have the opportunity to put “joyful” back into movement through yoga and other activities. Discovery’s specialized binge eating disorder (BED) program, Path to Peace, is also offered at this location.

The eating disorder outpatient team is highly trained in eating disorders, including certifications in eating disorder treatment and abundant experience with high acuity patients. Many of the staff members are trained in trauma therapy, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). This eating disorder treatment facility strongly supports family involvement in the treatment process and holds family nights as a way to involve loved ones to enhance the involvement of the patients.

Kaydeese Washington (she/her)

Kaydeese is a San Diego native who graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Kaydeese was fascinated with the study of I/O psychology (industrial and occupational psychology), which focuses on how psychology can be used to create a happier and more productive work environment. She has leveraged her past experiences working in customer service and sales to help create a warm, welcoming space for patients and staff. Kaydeese has been with Center for Discovery since 2019 and enjoys working closely with patients and their families. She strives to make sure that every person who steps through the doors feels safe, welcome and heard. In her free time, Kaydeese enjoys spending time with her husband, three boys and her youngest daughter. Kaydeese is also a movie aficionado and will never pass up an opportunity to cuddle up on the couch and get lost in an amazing plot.

Paris started with Center for Discovery Temecula in April 2021 as a dietary technician. She received her bachelor’s in sports and health sciences from American Public University and is currently pursuing a second bachelor’s and master’s in dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado. Paris is an aspiring dietician with a passion for nutrition education. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and five parrots.

Brittany Michelle Malear (she/her)

Brittany has been working as a diet technician at Discovery since October 2020. Her passion is to make long-lasting positive changes in people’s lives through nutrition education and community outreach. She received her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food sciences at California State University, San Bernardino, in 2020. Currently, she is pursuing a graduate degree in public health and is aspiring to be a registered dietitian. Brittany comes to work every day excited to be a part of patients’ journeys rediscovering positive relationships with food. In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, trying new foods and recipes and going on spontaneous adventures.

Nicole Shinefield

Nicole is a registered and licensed dietitian (RD/LD). She has a strong passion for helping clients discover compassion and grace for themselves while healing their relationship with food and their bodies. She believes in an approach that draws from Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size ®️ principles, as well as Ellyn Satter’s Feeding Dynamics Model. Nicole is originally from Denver, Colorado. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She completed her accredited dietetic internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center where she specialized in eating disorder treatment. Nicole is credentialed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is currently working to obtain the Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) credential. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, and hanging out with her cat and vast collection of house plants.

Eliza Lee Cheng, RDN (she/her)

Eliza (she/her) is a registered dietitian based in Southern California. Eliza was born and raised in Malaysia and moved to the U.S. in 2018 to further her education. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and dietetics at Loma Linda University. She then completed her dietetic internship at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. Eliza has been with Center for Discovery since 2021 and enjoys providing patients with the support they need to improve their relationship with food and body image. She is passionate about helping people find freedom from diet culture and food guilt to live a life without letting food rules dictate their lives. She believes that whole-person care should be incorporated to support one’s recovery. On Eliza’s days off, you can find her spending time with her husband and friends or catching up on new TV shows and movies.

In-person intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization is also offered at this location. Residential treatment continues to be offered at our residential facilities for individuals in need of a higher level of care.
