Center for Discovery Temecula is an outpatient eating disorder treatment center for patients of all genders and all ages. The Temecula IOP/PHP treatment facility serves all of Southern California. It opened in November 2019 and is  located near the 15 Freeway and the 79 Freeway. Treatment modalities we offer include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure & response prevention (ERP) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

In addition to receiving evidence-based therapies, patients all have the opportunity to put “joyful” back into movement through yoga and other activities. Discovery’s specialized binge eating disorder (BED) program, Path to Peace, is also offered at this location.

Insurances we accept include but are not limited to Cigna/ Great West, Health Net, Humana (Life Sync), Multi-Plan and TriCare Military Region WEST MHN/HealthNet. Please remember that the insurances we accept change frequently. Our insurance team will verify your coverage.

The eating disorder outpatient team is highly trained in eating disorders, including certifications in eating disorder treatment and abundant experience with high acuity patients. Many of the staff members are trained in trauma therapy, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). This eating disorder treatment facility strongly supports family involvement in the treatment process and holds family nights as a way to involve loved ones to enhance the involvement of the patients.

Paris Russo

Paris started with Center for Discovery Temecula in April 2021 as a dietary technician. She received her bachelor’s in sports and health sciences from American Public University and is currently pursuing a second bachelor’s and master’s in dietetics from the University of Northern Colorado. Paris is an aspiring dietician with a passion for nutrition education. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and five parrots.

Brittany Michelle Malear (she/her)

Brittany has been working as a diet technician at Discovery since October 2020. Her passion is to make long-lasting positive changes in people’s lives through nutrition education and community outreach. She received her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food sciences at California State University, San Bernardino, in 2020. Currently, she is pursuing a graduate degree in public health and is aspiring to be a registered dietitian. Brittany comes to work every day excited to be a part of patients’ journeys rediscovering positive relationships with food. In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with her family and friends, trying new foods and recipes and going on spontaneous adventures.

Nicole Shinefield

Nicole is a registered and licensed dietitian (RD/LD). She has a strong passion for helping clients discover compassion and grace for themselves while healing their relationship with food and their bodies. She believes in an approach that draws from Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size ®️ principles, as well as Ellyn Satter’s Feeding Dynamics Model. Nicole is originally from Denver, Colorado. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She completed her accredited dietetic internship at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center where she specialized in eating disorder treatment. Nicole is credentialed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is currently working to obtain the Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) credential. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, and hanging out with her cat and vast collection of house plants.

Kaydeese Washington (she/her)

Kaydeese is a San Diego native who graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Kaydeese was fascinated with the study of I/O psychology (industrial and occupational psychology), which focuses on how psychology can be used to create a happier and more productive work environment. She has leveraged her past experiences working in customer service and sales to help create a warm, welcoming space for patients and staff. Kaydeese has been with Center for Discovery since 2019 and enjoys working closely with patients and their families. She strives to make sure that every person who steps through the doors feels safe, welcome and heard. In her free time, Kaydeese enjoys spending time with her husband, three boys and her youngest daughter. Kaydeese is also a movie aficionado and will never pass up an opportunity to cuddle up on the couch and get lost in an amazing plot.

Sophia has been working as a diet technician at Discovery since June 2022. She received her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food sciences and a minor in psychology from Northern Arizona University in 2022. In the future, her goal is to become a registered dietitian. Sophia is passionate about helping people develop healthy relationships with food. She enjoys spending time with friends and family while experiencing new things.

CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Cindy Payne, MS, APCC

Cindy is a professional clinical counselor who received her bachelor’s in psychology from Fayetteville State University and her master’s degree in clinical counseling from Loma Linda University. She is a McNair Scholar who has worked in the community for over six years providing therapeutic services to patients struggling with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, substance and process addictions, anxiety, depression and personality disorders. Prior to joining CFD, Cindy was a clinical therapist at a PHP/IOP program. Cindy’s clinical approach is a holistic one that builds on an authentic, transparent therapeutic relationship. She believes in creating safety for the patient to self-explore and be the expert in their own lives. She does not provide advice but challenges the patient to seek intrinsic understanding without judgement. Cindy is the proud mother of two children, has been married for over 10 years, and has a deep love for multicultural psychology and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bronson Ouellette

Bronson is a registered dietitian (RD) who graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Foods and Nutrition. He completed his accredited dietetic internship with Sarasota County Schools in Sarasota, Florida, mostly specializing in school foodservice management. Prior to Center for Discovery, Bronson has worked in a variety of roles that include foodservice management, clinical nutrition, and counseling. Bronson has a passion for helping patients navigate diet culture and the overwhelming amount of information surrounding nutrition. His goals are always to be empathetic, supportive, and to provide patients with the necessary tools for their recovery. Bronson would describe himself as a world traveler, having enjoyed many cultures and their foods. In time away from work, he enjoys surfing, playing guitar, watching sports and enjoying time with his wife and their three cats.

ASSOCIATE THERAPIST

Giselle Faceire

Giselle is a registered associate marriage and family therapist. Giselle graduated from Alliant International University, San Diego in 2020 with a Master of Arts in Couples and Family Therapy. Prior to joining the team, Giselle has worked with children, youth and families (primarily with at-risk youth and their families) in San Diego County and Riverside County. Giselle is TF-CBT certified and has experience focusing on processing trauma and assisting patients to learn to cope with its symptoms and overcome life’s obstacles. Giselle has served in various roles in promoting social justice, serving communities with minority and lower-SES populations and empowering single mothers and their children to succeed. As a therapist, Giselle is enthusiastic about establishing meaningful connections with her patients to help guide them to reaching their goals of recovery and wellbeing and walking alongside them as they realize their full potential. Giselle believes in shining light amid darkness to help others find their way. In her spare time, Giselle loves spending time with her family (including two big dogs and a cat), cooking, enjoying a good movie, exploring, hiking and being surrounded by nature.
