Center For Discovery, Alexandria Virginia, is an eating disorder adult female treatment center that first opened in May 2016 and accepts all clients, over the age of 18, who identify as female including transfemale clients. Alexandria is located 30 minutes south of Washington D.C. across the Potomac River and draws clients from Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C.
Residential treatment at Center For Discovery Alexandria, Virginia is a high level of care that provides 24-hour care to females at least 18 years of age in a sub acute 800 square foot facility, such as a residential home like setting where women engage in group therapy, structured and monitored mealtimes, group social events, family therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, and individual therapy. Dialectal behavioral therapy skills group is offered four times per week in both the residential and partial hospitalization settings.
Partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Center For Discovery Alexandria, Virginia is a time-limited, intensive outpatient mental health treatment center with strict criteria but more flexibility and lower costs compared to a residential mental health treatment center. A partial hospitalization program (PHP) falls on the continuum of mental healthcare between residential treatment and outpatient treatment. Partial Hospital Programs typically include individual therapy including a dialectal behavioral therapy informed program, family, and group counseling, medication management, nutritional counseling and meal supervision. Both partial hospitalization and residential treatment programs offer an eight-bed facility for an individualized treatment experience where therapists practice a “health at every size” philosophy providing a body positive experience through yoga therapy as well as trauma informed yoga therapy.
