What Do Eating Disorder Treatment Centers Offer?
While each of the many eating disorder treatment centers has their own program and way in which they help a child with an eating disorder, the basic concept is the same. Today an eating disorder is known to be more than just a solitary disorder; therapists know that for most clients there is an underlying cause of the problem.
Armed with this knowledge, eating disorder treatment centers, just like drug and alcohol treatment centers, start by helping their clients understand why their particular disorder started. Unless the cause is fully understood, the chances of a successful recovery are significantly reduced. Once the patient fully understands why they have an eating disorder, they can begin to learn the skills needed to overcome the disorder and to be able to return to a successful and happy life.
